? Cillessen: "Mestalla is awesome, I’m excited to play here"

As soon as he signed his contract with Valencia CF, Jasper Cillessen wanted to get a feel for his new home, Mestalla. The keeper has already played at Valencia CF home stadium, he did last season in the second leg of the Copa semifinals, where he experienced its unique atmosphere.

How are you after the official signing?

I’m really happy to be here, I cannot wait to start. For me, it’s a big step and an amazing club. It’s a great team and a great club.

What are your goals?

The most important thing is to win, the ‘how’ is important, but the first thing is to win.

After the signing you spoke with Marcelino, what did he say to you?

He was happy with me, for me it was very easy.

What do you think about the Valencia CF fans?

It's a great fanbase, it's spectacular, like I saw in the Copa semifinal last season. The atmosphere was amazing here, until the last minute they kept on going… and now they’re going to be on my side, so I’m happy.

Were you surprised to see Mestalla from the inside?

I like it a lot, it's smaller than the Camp Nou, but I like it. When you're inside the field you realize how big it is, it's special, full of people it's awesome. I want to play here.
